McCain Refuses To Own Republican Failure

The best part of Barack's speech at Mile High is when he said exactly what the Republican Ownership society means... that YOU are on your OWN.

And not only that.  The Republican's refuse to even acknowledge--to OWN up to the complete and total failure of George W. Bush and John McCain and Bob Schaffer's Congress and Republicans party and its ideas.

So much for personal responsibility.

Joe Biden lays it out perfectly:

Al Rodgers from Daily Kos provides the transcript for the impatient and/or video impaired:

This ain't your father's Republican Party, by the way.  This is a different Republican Party.

But, I'll tell you, it's not so much of what I heard in the Republican convention. When you heard John speak last night.  It's not so much what I heard, when I heard part of what the Governor had to say, the vice presidential candidate.

McCain on the Rocks

If you couldn't make it yesterday, we're doing it again. This time watching what lies, gaffs, and hilarity comes out of John McCain's mouth tonight. I can sum up Palin's speech in a few words: Barack Obama is too popular, community organizing is something to laugh at, and did you know John McCain was a POW? Just like John McCain compared to George Bush, we're sure to get more of the same from him tonight.

So join us tonight at the Skylark Lounge, 140 S. Broadway, starting at 7:30pm for $3 drinks, and pizza from Sexy Pizza, and CSPAN on the big TV (so we don't have to be told what the think by the flappy headed talking heads). After this we'll be back to our now every Wednesday schedule.

In cooperation with People for the American Way, here's an excerpt of the rules. We'll have a few copies on hand tonight. Or, you can bring your own or follow along at home.

DNC Convention Denver - in pictures

Did I hear something about a GOP VP choice?  Hoo-humm.  Who cares!  I'm still psyched about this past week.

I was in section 525 at just about the top row available, just beneath one of those huge screens.  This is about what our view looked like of the convention floor without a zoom lens or binoculars.

A+ for Subliminal Visuals!

I’m still working on pics I took in Denver. There is one mental image in particular that has stayed with me from the speech at Mile High Thursday night, but unfortunately it’s not a moment I also captured with my camera.

You’ll probably remember the one I mean, though, because it seems to have caught a lot of people’s attention. I’ve seen it described as ‘patio doors’, and the clone said it made her think of the stained glass windows at a church. I’m talking about the part where Michelle and the girls join Obama on stage. They were standing outside a frame of panes, which was lit from the inside with a warm, golden glow.

I have no way of knowing if that look was part of the design plan or not, but I bet it was, because it worked so superbly well. We all know subconsciously what it would be like, to be inside the place that light is shining from. It would be cozy and warm. It would make us feel secure, happy and welcome.

It gives us the feeling that we don’t have to worry any more. Everything will be all right now.

Daddy’s home.
