Congresswoman Tubbs Jones' November ballot spot filled

Warrensville Heights Mayor Marcia Fudge, mentored in politics by the late U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, grabbed the inside track Thursday night to take over her seat.

Fudge won a landslide victory in a vote by Cuyahoga County Democratic Party officials to replace Tubbs Jones as the party's nominee on the Nov. 4 ballot for the 11th Congressional District.

The heavily Democratic district covers much of Cleveland's East Side and many eastern suburbs.

Fudge, 55, said she hoped the vote showed unity and consensus within the party as she heads toward the general election.

Democratic Governors to campaign for Obama in NW Ohio

Ohio Daily Blog's picture

Two prominent Democratic governors (one with close ties to Ohio) are coming to Rossford, Ohio on behalf of the Obama/Biden campaign.

Governors Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas and Janet Napolitano of Arizona are going to be in Rossford on Saturday at 4:45pm at the Rossford Community Center (400 Dixie Highway; right near downtown Rossford) for a discussion on the economy in support of the Obama-Biden ticket. The event is open to the public.

Wood County Democratic Party chair Mike Zickar writes: "I'm excited that these two are heading to Rossford." Governor Sibelius was on many people's "short list" for the vice presidential nomination and is the oldest daughter of former Ohio Governor John Gilligan.

Fighting the Untruths: Che Guevara flag in Houston Obama campaign office

In the interest of furthering truth and debunking spin---on all sides, friends, as my post below goes to show---I'm going to debunk a Fox News Houston video that's been making its way around the Internet.

Che Guevara Flags in Obama's Houston Office

Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 4:25:17 pm PST

Barack Obama won’t wear an American flag on his lapel, but on the wall of his Houston campaign office: a Cuban flag with a picture of Communist mass murderer Che Guevara.

writes a blog called Little Green Footballs.

Eh. Not quite. In fact, not at all.

Point 1: This video clip is from February. Before the primary.

The Obama campaign closed its headquarters in Houston after the primary. Following a very common practice, the campaign is working with and through the local Democratic Party, which recently expanded its operations by adding satellite offices around Harris County.
