OH-14: A Conversation With Bill O'Neill on Transportation Policy

When David Potts and I were at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, the DNCC placed us in a hotel way out in suburban Aurora, CO. They provided media shuttles, however, those shuttles operated on fixed schedules that didn’t take into account any other events besides the DNC. Because of that, David and I ended up utilizing Denver’s light rail system every single day we were there to make the commute into Downtown. It was much easier and cheaper than trying to find a parking place, besides being clean, easy, and fast.

All this use of light rail in Denver reminded me of a conversation I had with 14th District Congressional Candidate Bill O’Neill. Bill O’Neill is a friend of this blog, and was gracious enough to sit down with me for a face-to-face chat about transportation issues.

Getting into Invesco was an adventure in itself. Parking, walking to the spot mentioned in the informative email, and wandering the four corners of the intersection until someone from CNN went by and told me that the media shuttles were at the Pepsi Center.

Well, why didn't they say so? I take directions literally; otherwise, I would wind up missing that left turn at Albuquerque.

Salazar is out there now, praising the worth of Obama. Looking through the glass windows of the media lounge, the sight is truly awesome: a huge expanse of seats filling with people. The lines outside the stadium extended through the parking lots and into the University of Denver area. The sun outside is bright and hot, but the breeze is cool. So much for the Focus on the Family goons praying for rain. Instead, tornadoes and storms have plagued the area south of Denver all week (including Colorado Springs). Meanwhile, the weather here has been great.

Bloggers creep around me, gingerly stepping over the cords that cross everywhere across the floor.

OMG, it's a Howard Dean video! Showing Howard and the DNC in action, touting the 50-state strategy.

Howard is up now. He says that we have hope, and we have a plan: Show up. Democrats everywhere have been knocking on doors, and it's paying off.
