DNC 2008 - AAPP's DNC Convention Picture Gallery, Part I

AfricanAmericanPoliticalPundit's picture

I have been taking care of my daughter, so I have not had the time to upload the many pictures and interviews from the DNC Conventiion. Here are a few of the many pictures from the DNC convention more to come.  I will be uploading videos on Youtube shortly.

AAPP

Gov. Martin Omalley and AAPP at the DNC Convention. Is Gov. Martin Omalley tall or is it me who is just a tad short (LOL).

I had the opportunity to talk for a few with DNC Chairman Howard Dean, while at one of the DNC sponsored bloggers event.

Fox 31, conservative media figures exploit deaths of three to replay immigration myths

Several Colorado media outlets and personalities uncritically repeated immigration-related falsehoods in their reporting or commentary regarding a fatal traffic accident allegedly caused by an illegal immigrant who reportedly was arrested 16 times but never deported. Newsradio 850 KOA's "Gunny" Bob Newman parroted the unsubstantiated assertion that illegal immigrants kill 12 Americans every day, KDVR Fox 31 aired the baseless claim that "25 to 30 percent of the entire inmate population in most jails are aliens subject to deportation," and columnist Chuck Green in The Pueblo Chieftain and the Aurora Sentinel repeated the myth that Colorado is a "sanctuary state" and Denver is a "sanctuary city."

Palin Again Recites Lie About Bridge To Nowhere

Unchastened by the multiple media outlets who have pointed out that Sarah Palin's claim to have said "thanks but no thanks" to the Bridge to Nowhere is a lie, she repeated the falsehood again today on the trail today in Lebanon, Ohio. Here's her quote:

"You're gonna hear a lot about the abusive practice of earmarks in Congress from our good senator here. We championed in Alaska reform of the old earmark process. I told Congress, `Thanks but no thanks' for that Bridge To Nowhere up in Alaska. If our state wanted a bridge, we were gonna build it ourselves."

As Josh notes, the falsehood has now been debunked by everyone from Newsweek to the Associated Press to the Wall Street Journal. But here's Palin keeping up with it anyway.

McCain aides clearly think they can just keep pushing this lie until the news orgs tire of pointing out that it's false -- or, as McCain campaign Rick Davis might put it, until the news orgs start treating her with "deference."

Will Colorado media correct factual inaccuracies in their DNC coverage?

Summary: Colorado media outlets published numerous falsehoods, provided misleading commentary, and uncritically parroted Republican talking points during the Democratic National Convention in Denver. Will media figures such as 630 KHOW-AM's Dan Caplis and KCNC CBS4's Raj Chohan correct their inaccuracies, as The Gazette of Colorado Springs did after Colorado Media Matters pointed out an error in one of its editorials?

Colorado Media Matters documented numerous falsehoods, misleading commentary, and uncritical repetition of Republican talking points during the local media's coverage of the Democratic National Convention, held August 25-28 in Denver. For example, as a guest columnist in the Rocky Mountain News and on his 630 KHOW-AM radio program, Dan Caplis smeared Sen. Barack Obama four days in a row by distorting his positions on abortion, energy issues, foreign policy, and funding for the armed forces.
